Interlibrary Loans and Holds
If an item is checked out or not owned by the library you are visiting, you may place a "hold" on the item. You will be placed on the waiting list for checked out items or it will be shipped from another owning library depending on availablility and individual library policies for interlibrary loan. When you are notified that the requested item is available for pick up, you will find it on the "hold shelf" under your last name. Check it out at the circulation desk as usual.
If an item is not available within Livonia or the Library Network catalog, we will request a copy from libraries around the state of Michigan through the MeLCat network of libraries.

The Civic Center Library has 18 internet stations for public use (10 adult, 4 fifteen minute express, 1 teen, and 3 children's). The adult and teen stations also have Microsoft Office software and will accept a floppy disk or usb/memory stick. There are four additional computers with Microsoft Office software only. These stations are for use by patrons of all ages. They are attached to a printer where you can load your own paper or we will supply paper for you. Cost for printing is .15 per page regardless of whether you use your own paper or library supplied paper.
Alfred Noble has 7 (5 adult, 2 children's). Carl Sandburg has 7 (5 adult, 2 children's). All stations at at both Noble and Sandburg are equipped with MS Office and internet access. Adult stations are unfiltered stations for people over 18 years old or children (under 18) accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Children's and young adult stations are filtered stations where people under 18 are given preference. Adults may use these stations, but if a minor asks for an internet station and all other filtered stations are in use, the adult will be asked to leave the station regardless of start time.
